About SAF

Saffron Swire is a London-based cartoonist, illustrator, journalist and editor whose work appears under the name SAF. She draws a weekly cartoon for The Observer, and her work has also appeared in The Economist, The New Statesman, Tortoise and The New European.
 

She began sharing doodles on Instagram while completing her MA in journalism in 2019 and hasn’t stopped drawing since. Since then, her cartoons have chronicled two general elections, a global pandemic and politicians in various states of indignity – from Putin as a pig to Trump in a mankini.
